In-Barn Rehabilitation Services

Daily physical therapy to help your horse recover from an injury and safely return to work

Excellent Care at a Quiet Barn

We provide excellent, customized care to your horse. Stalls are large. Daily turnout is available (if your horse can be turned out). Other horses are around so they will not be lonely. Everyone who handles your horse is highly trained to keep your horse safe. Horses are fed 3-4 times per day. Orchard grass and alfalfa hay is available. Stalls are well bedded. The barn is ideal for healing and recovery.

Treatment for Tissue Recovery

Modalities, such as lasers, red light therapy, PEMF, and electrical stimulation, can help promote tissue healing. However, they work best when used frequently, which is a challenge when you have your horse at home. When they come to our in-barn rehab program, they receive appropriate modalities multiple times per week to promote tissue healing, paired with other physical therapy interventions.

Exercise & Progressive Overload

Therapeutic exercise, combined with tissue healing, is where the magic happens. We work with your horse to improve their quality of movement and restore range of motion, then carefully add load to get them strong and using their muscles properly. This takes a trained eye to facilitate correct movement and give rest breaks at the right time. We work with your to develop a program for your horse to return them to work.

Access to Water Treadmill

If it’s beneficial to your horse, we have access to an in-ground water treadmill that can be added to their treatment plan. This is an excellent tool to improve fitness and range of motion safely.

Collaboration with Vet & Farriers

We require a veterinary referral for horses in this rehab program. We work closely with vets and farriers to help get your horse sound. Each injury is unique. Some horses come to us with a solid diagnosis and need minimal veterinary intervention because the goal is tissue healing and return to work. However, other horses have a “possible” diagnosis, and part of the goal of rehab is to sort out if they are responding to treatment, or if there is another issue. We give vets frequent reports, so they can use that information to help better define the problem.
